Culture

Livingston County offers a variety of local and regional attractions.

The State University College of New York at Geneseo is the center for cultural entertainment and enjoyment in the community and throughout the County. The College, which has two amateur theater groups, a jazz ensemble, wind ensemble, string band, and chamber symphony orchestra, offers over 200 activities a year including musical concerts, theatrical presentations, comedy acts, the Limelight Series (performances by world renowned performers), and sporting events for the public to see. The Wadsworth Lecture series sponsors nationally renowned speakers such as former President Gerald Ford.

Livingston County is also a short drive from the heart of Rochester’s theater district featuring the Eastman Theater of Performing Arts. Also located in Rochester is the Geva Theater, home to many off Broadway productions, the celebrated Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, the international Photographic Museum, the Rochester Museum and Science Center, the Strasenburg Planetarium, Memorial Art Gallery and Finger Lakes Performing Arts Center.
